    Engagement (indentured servant):
    Notary De Montreau drew up the contract between Olivier and Jeanne Mance. Mance would pay the price of passage for Olivier, Marie and Anne. She also agreed to provide their food during the voyage. Mance purchased a sturdy chest from Daniel Guroy for thirty one livres 12 sols for the protection of their clothing. Olivier would pay for the freight of the chest and its contents. Olivier agreed to repay the loan and received a receipt from Jeanne Mance ten years later on 10 November 1669 indicating that he had paid his debt.

    Immigration:
    They left France aboard the ship ?i?le Saint-Andre ?/i?on 5 June 1659 but the ship lost a rudder and had to return to port. The ?i?Saint-Andre?/i? set sail again on 2 july 1659. The ship arrived at Quebec on 7 September 1659. The immigrants were first lodged in the Magasin de Montreal, a warehouse for merchandise headed to Montreal.

    Legal Matter:
    Olivier leased a piece of land from Andre Charly dit Saint-Ange. Andre promised lodging in town for the family. Olivier took charge of two pigs, a cow, fourteen hens, a rooster and paid his rent with twelve minots of peas and ten of oats. Charbonneau received eighty-four livres for spending the winter.

    Land:
    Olivier occupied twelve arpents of land. On 15 September 1663, he sold this land to Mathuring Thibodeau for 10 livres.
