    He came from a community in the Department of the Sarthe, Saint-Come-de-Vair, in Perche, now Maine. His parents were from the parish of Champaissant.

    Claude along with Julien Fortin arrived in Quebec. Claude had an inheritance from his father and along with Julien did not come as an indentured servant but was under the protection of Sir Robert Giffard.

    Claude purchased five and a half arpents of river frontage, to a depth of one and a half leagues, from land agent Oliver Letardif. This land wa 30 arpents to the northeast of the Church of Sainte-Anne.

    Claude sold his five and a half arpents of land to Louis Guimond for 600 livres. This transaction was not approved by the Company of One Hundred Associates until 1 October 1657. He then collected his payment from Louis Guimond and Jean Crevel.

    In June of 1661, the Agnier Iroquois started to terrorize the area. After the disappearance of his father-in-law, Claude and his family abandoned their farm and went to Chateau Richer.

    In June of 1661, the Angier Iroquois began to terrorize the region. It was at this time that Louis mysteriously disappeared along with Louis Guimond. A document at the Seminary of Quebec states: "on the 18th of this month (June 1661) at 8:00 in the morning began the massacre of several people at Beaupre...which is found to be true".

    Rene Cauchon dit Laverdiere drew up the inventory and were recorded by notary Claude Auber. This inventory revealed a debt to the Hotel-Dieu in Quebec of 35 livres.
