    He arrive in Canada in 1660, possibly as the indentured servant of Rene Besnard.

    Legal Matter:
    He pressed a claim against Rene Besnard dit Bourjoly, who had been summoned to court "to pay off his debts following a judgement against him".

    Notary la Touche drew up papers for Gilles to buy a lot measuring 2 X 40 arpents on the Saint Marc coast at Cap de la Madeleine. The seller was Benjamin Anseau, Sieur du Berri. His neighbors would be Anseau to the southwest and Louis Boudor to the northeast. This sale was ratified on the following first of February by Louise Poisson, wife of the Sieur du Berri.

It was acquired on 13 Feb 1668 in a contract recorded by Severin Ameau, but never entered in the official records.

    He accepted a grant of three arpents of land from Francois Hertel de Lafresniere, seigneur of Arbre-a-la-Croix. The Hertel fief in 1681 was inhabited by only five familes: Pierre Durand, Gilles Dupont, Pierre Proust, Martin Foisy and Nicolas Millet de Marandais.
