This regiment joined General Alexandre de Prouville, Seigneur de Tracy, in a convoy of about 150 ships that sailed to the Antilles in support of the Company of the West Indies. The islands of Cayenne, Martinque, Guadeloupe, Saint-Kitts and Saint-Dominique voluntarily ceded to France. The regiment stayed in the Antilles through 1664.
In March of 1665 General Tracy was given orders to be at the mouth of the St. Lawrence by mid-June. Andre and the L'Allier regiment arrived at Quebec on 30 June 1665 where they joined the Carignan-Salieres Regiment. Their winter quarters were in the areas of Quebec, Trois-Rivieres and Montreal.
The regiment joined forces with the Canadians and Amerindien forces in September of 1666 to wipe out the Iroquois living south of Lake Champlain.
In 1668, there was a demobilization and half the soldiers returned to France. Andre was one of about 403 soldiers that remained in Canada.

Name Lagace or Lagasse [3] - Andre most likely received this name during his time in the military. The phrase "?i?tirer la gachette?/i?" means pulling the trigger. ?i?La Gachette?/i? would later become Lagace and Lagasse.
