    The contract was drawn up by notary Aubert "in the home of Toussaint". Neither could sign the contract. Genevieve's brother Nicolas was present at the signing. He promised to give Genevieve clothes, furniture and linens worth 200 livres and to feed the couple for two years. In return, they were both to serve him for two years. They would be paid 150 livres per year out of the inheritance of his and Genevieve's parents.
