    Legal Matter:
    A contract was drawn up before notary Audouart between Rene and Marguerite Rosee, widow of Pierre Gagne. Rene was given a three year lease on a piece of land with a cabin on the Beaupre Coast. The farm had three arpents of frontage on the river. He was to pay three-and-a-half poincons (equivalent to about forty Canadian gallons) of wheat for the first year, and for three remaining years, a poincon-and-a-half of wheat, a poincon of pea, plus three livres. The rent was paid to Pierre le Picard.
