    "In the presence of Romain Becquet, Royal Notary of New France and undersigned witnesses, were presnet in person Pierre Parent resident living on the Coast of Beauport, who through his good willingness and wishes acknowledged and confessed to owe to the Sieur Pierre Jamin both for passage for the voyage, and for an advance and food provided to Pierre Valliere which he has, on this day delivered to the said Pierre Parent for service as servant following and conforming to the indenture contract of the said Valliere signed in the presence of Langlois, Royal Notary in the city of La Rochelle on the last fourteen May, placed in the hand of the said Parent, for which amount of One Hundred one Livres ten sols, the said Pierre Parent promised and is obliged to pay the said Sieur Jamain or to Sieur Daniel Bialle, merchant, presently in this city acting for the said Sieur Jamin in this business, in animal hides, eight days before the departure of the last ship which leaves this year from the port of this city to return to France, he is obligated by all his furnishings and real estate present and in the future, because this contract made and signed at Quebec in the study of the said notary. On the twelfth Day of October sixteen sixty six, in the presence of Sieur Jean Bellacq, body guard of Monseigneur de Tracy, and Martin apprentice of Sieur de Martigeon living in the said Quebec.     Antoine was accused of seducing Jeanne Hebert, a young neighbor, with the intent to rape and of having made every effort to achieve this. An order of arrest was issued for Antoine. He was found guilty, whipped, and condemned to nine years of penal servitude. From the sale of his property, Antoine was required to pay 250 livres "to support for two years the said Jeanne Hebert boarder with the Ursulines" at Quebec.


    Court:
    The Sovereign Council was ordered to settle the distribution of the deniers coming from the public auction of the homestead, the furniture and the harvest of Antoine Gaboury. His creditors were Guillemette Hebert, widow of Guillaume Couillard, the church-wardens of L'Ange-Gardien, the Sieur Charles Aubert de la Chesnaye, grand clerk of the Company of the West Indies; merchant Claude Charron, Etienne Landron and Francois Peron dit le Suyre, mortgagors; Louis Hebert and his daughter Jeanne; Louis Guitard, representative of the Nursing Sisters, and several other habitants, including Pierre Gendreau. Not everyone received payment. Antoine had just been sentenced to nine years in exile for the rape of Jeanne Hebert and was required to dispose of his property.

    Court:
    Antoine along with Nicolas Daudelin dit Champagne and Mathurin Tessier plotted to invade the Dutch settlements in New York and pillage the establishment of Charles Bazire on their way through Riviere-du-Loup. They thought they would reap about 20,000 livres. They were apprehended and given a trial.

    Jean enlisted as a soldier to nobleman Antoine Cheffault, Sieur de la Reygnardiere, one of the directors of the Compagnie General de la Nouvelle-France. Jean was 16 years old at the time. At enlistment he recieved 33 livres and 5 sous as an advance. HIs enlistment period was three years, at 60 livres per year.
    Jean crossed the Atlantic on one of two ships that left La Rochelle on 27 April. The ships 'La Madeleine d'Olonne' and "La Marie de Dieppe" were headed for Tadoussac and Quebec.

    It was noted in the 'Journal of the Jesuits' that Jean left Sillery with some Frenchmen and was at the head of a group of Hurons. They were to go to war with the Iroquois near Montreal.

    Jean, along with 7 Hurons, be a march to Trois-Rivieres. The 'Journal of the Jesuits noted Jean "went on ahead to bring the words of the Governor to the Hurons, in order to let them know the state of affairs down here, with the order to do and say only what the Father Superior of the Hurons ordered him".
    Before his departure, he left a chest and key with the Jesuits. Another chest was left with Denis Duquet, resident of Quebec. Jean had left his hat in the care of the Jesuits and an arquebus to a man named Lafortune, likely blacksmith Jean Bonnart dit Lafortune. Lafortune repaired the gun and charged 7 livres and 10 sols for his services.

    Travel:
    Jean left in the company of 2 Christian Amerindians to go to the Hurons at Sainte-Marie. It would take a month to travel 300 leagues up the Outaouais river, to the French river and then to reach Georgian Bay at Sainte-Marie. Today the area is Midland, Ontario.

    Land:
    Jean leased the land aquired by Louise's first husband Francois Marguerie to Jacques Hertel. The lease was for three years and Hertel promised to pay 400 livres.

    Land:
    Jean leased his farm to Louis Lesage and Francois Hebert. They would seed this land for three years for half the grain harvested. Jean would provide 2 steers, 2 cows, carts and plows.

    Debt:
    Jean admitted owing Michel Moreau 82 livres for merchandise received.

    Land:
    Jean Pelletier stated that his father had sold the land belong to his brother Antoine to Jean Mignault. The selling price was 1300 livres, of which 329 livres was still owing. Mignault received a final receipt on 23 February 1663.

    Land:
    Jean sold 6 and 2/3 arpents of frontal land to Francois LeMaitre. LeMaitre was given a receipt on 9 July 1662.

    Additional information:
    It was noted in the 'Journal of the Jesuits' that Jean's house burnt down.

    Legal Matter:
    Jean went before the Sovereign Council and stated that Etienne Laquel had stolen 6 minots of wheat from him. The Council awarded Jean 66 livres which were deducted from Laquel's wages.
