He enlisted at La Rochelle with Emmanuel Le Borgne (agent of Charles de Menou d'Aulnay) to go to Port-Royal, Acadia for three years, without his family.

Notary Audouart drew up a contract between Nicolas and Anne Gasnier, widow of Jacques Clement, to lease her house and land at Cap Rouge (Sillery).
Additonal information:
Madeleine purchased merchandise to send to Canada aboard the ship Saint-Joseph. It is possible that she came to Canada on the same ship.

Nicolas received a land grant at Sillery from the Jesuits but he seemed to stay on his other land after the colonists were assured safey.
Death:
He died of wounds sustained from an Iroquois musket. He had lived 10 years in Acadia and New France.
