- Genevieve and Jacques were called to testify before the Conseil Souverain in the murder trial of Simon Duverger. Duverger killed his neighbor Gabriel Herve and was sentence to be hanged in effigy, since he had escaped from the prison in Quebec City. It was not clear what Genevieve's part was in the affair but she was ordered by the council on 31 August to be "admonished to live a good life and not to cause a scandal in the future" and with Jacques admonished "to watch over her conduct, under penalty of answering for it in his own name".
