    Anne was nine years old when she was captured by the Iroquois. She spent seven years in captivity. In 1667, Monsieur Prouville de Tracy ordered the Iroquois to release all captives. Anne did not want to return and ran into the forest. She later decided to return to her people and was placed in the Ursuline school.
